Wi-Fi Calling: How to Improve Call Quality
Optimize Your Wi-Fi Network
To ensure seamless Wi-Fi calling, it's crucial to optimize your Wi-Fi network. One key factor is to make sure devices aren't bouncing between Wi-Fi cell service.
Additionally, Wi-Fi Calling relies on UDP port 4500 when behind a NAT. Ensure this port is open in your network settings.
Configure Your Device
Enable Wi-Fi Calling in your device's settings. Go to "Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling" and toggle the switch to "On".
Enhance Signal Strength
Unlike cellular calls, Wi-Fi calling utilizes your Wi-Fi signal. To improve signal strength, consider adjusting your Wi-Fi router's position or adding extenders.
For UniFi Devices, set the 2.4 GHz transmit power to "Auto" in the "Settings > AP > Set the Transmit Power" menu.
Test Incoming Calls
To verify if incoming calling is working, make a call from an external number to one of your UniFi Talk phones. If the call is received successfully, your Wi-Fi Calling setup is configured correctly.
