Mike Pence To Launch 2024 Presidential Campaign

Former Vice President to use political group to defend Reagan-era values

Pence won't endorse Trump in November

Former Vice President Mike Pence announced Wednesday he's running for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination as he seeks to build on the legacy of former President Ronald Reagan.

Pence, who served as vice president under President Donald Trump from 2017 to 2021, has been a vocal critic of Trump since the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. He has said he will not endorse Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Pence's announcement comes as he is launching a new political group, Advancing American Freedom, which he says will promote "Reagan-era" values. The group will focus on issues such as religious freedom, free markets, and a strong national defense.

Pence is expected to face a crowded field of Republican candidates in the 2024 presidential primary. Other potential candidates include former President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.
