The UK economy grew by 0.6% in the second quarter of 2024, according to official figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). This growth rate is in line with forecasts and represents a marginal slowdown from the robust 0.7% expansion in the first quarter.

The ONS data shows that GDP (gross domestic product) grew by 0.6% in the three months to June. This follows an increase of 0.7% in the first quarter of the year.

The UK economy has been recovering from the recession it entered at the end of last year. The 0.6% growth in Q2 2024 is a continuation of this recovery, although the rate of growth has slowed slightly from the previous quarter.
