Everton Gearing Up For Big January Signing Spree Sources

Everton gearing up for big January signing spree – sources

Toffees reportedly set to spend big in bid to avoid relegation battle

Everton are preparing to spend heavily in the January transfer window in a bid to avoid a relegation battle, according to sources.

The Toffees have endured a difficult start to the season, winning just three of their first 12 Premier League games.

As a result, manager Frank Lampard is under pressure to improve his squad and sources say the club are prepared to back him with a significant war chest.

Lampard interested in Calvert-Lewin's former strike partner

One player Everton are reportedly interested in is Dominic Calvert-Lewin's former strike partner at Sheffield United, David McGoldrick.

The 30-year-old is a free agent after leaving the Blades in the summer and is said to be keen on a move to Goodison Park.

McGoldrick is a proven goalscorer at Championship level, having scored 51 goals in 158 appearances for Sheffield United.

Other players linked with Everton

Other players who have been linked with Everton in recent weeks include:

  • Glen Kamara (Rangers)
  • Lucas Digne (Aston Villa)
  • James Tarkowski (Burnley)
  • Nat Phillips (Liverpool)

It remains to be seen whether Everton will be able to sign all of their targets, but it is clear that they are determined to strengthen their squad in January.

Lampard under pressure to deliver

Lampard is under increasing pressure to deliver results at Everton after a poor start to the season.

The Toffees are currently 16th in the Premier League table, just two points above the relegation zone.

If Everton do not improve their form soon, Lampard could be sacked and the club could be dragged into a relegation battle.
